History

Oxford House School was founded by Mrs Sylvia Spendlove in 1959 as a small day nursery known as "Little Folks Nursery". Within a few years the age range of pupils was extended to include pupils of nursery, infant and junior age. In 1963 the school moved to larger premises in Oxford Road, Colchester and was re-named Oxford House School. In 1968 Mrs Spendlove appointed her son Paul Spendlove as joint Principal. A second move to our present location in Lexden Road, Colchester took place in 1984. This allowed the school to offer better facilities and larger classrooms. In 2006 the school became part of the Cognita Schools Group.
