Pupils enter our half day Nursery 1 after 30 months, but in the school year in which they are 3.   Children from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years generally stay for half days in Nursery 1.  Children progress into the full day Nursery 2 from  three and a half years, in the school year in which they are 4.   Activities in the Nursery are Montessori based and aim to develop sensory skills as well as a firm knowledge of number and language. All children have one to one every day to become confident readers and quickly gain the mathematical skills to undertake addition, subtraction, division and multiplication calculations using the Montessori thousands, hundreds, tens and unit equipment. Using the "sandpaper letter" system enables very young children to develop advanced writing skills. The breadth of the curriculum is enhanced by the use of specialist dance, music, French and physical education teachers.
