Independent School in Colchester

After acquiring a solid foundation in the Early Years, pupils enjoy a wide curriculum designed to develop a love for learning. The school’s approach becomes more ‘formal’ in the traditional sense, and the curriculum becomes subject based. Children in Form II are introduced to 11+ Bond papers, including Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning, providing exam competence as well as valuable life skills.

The use of specialist teachers enables all the pupils to benefit from expert tuition in all subjects including PE, Dance and Drama. In addition to this, Form II are introduced to weekly French and swimming lessons.

Small classes enable all pupils to benefit from individual support from the class teacher and all pupils are constantly monitored and assessed. However, any pupil having difficulty within the class is assessed by the Special Needs Co-ordinator and if necessary, given extra support.

All pupils will enjoy the experience of a variety of learning opportunities outside the classroom. With a wealth of local museums, trips are planned throughout the year to enhance the curriculum.

Through the seasons together we learn, celebrate and flourish to become happy, confident and independent learners.
