Forest School Fun for Form I

Forest School Fun for Form I
Form I pupils arrived enthusiastic and excited today for a morning of child led adventures. They began by talking about the Forest School safety rules to ensure they stayed within the boundary and kept themselves and their friends safe. The children had the opportunity to explore all the different areas at their own pace. One group cooked up some mud soup in the kitchen using things they found on the floor for example mud, leaves, feathers etc and also added water towards the end of the session to get a wonderful consistency. The den building was extremely popular, working together as a team to build in different ways, learning what worked, what didn’t and problem solving to fix any issues. They relaxed in the hammock under the sunshine, looked for bugs and worms, made potions and used hand drills. Each child was given a nature journal, a packet of coloured pencils and a magnify glass to keep, when they felt ready the took a quiet moment to decorate the front and wrote what they could see, smell, hear, feel and wonder. They will bring these along each week and add to them over the next 6 sessions. Each journal is unique to them and a place to record what they take from their Forest School experience. We can’t wait to see what they get up to next week!
